Open Belgian Championship Underwater Scootering PART II consists of two tests that must be carried out in a team context. The final details of each test & handicaps applied will be communicated at least 1 week before the championship.
The first test is a navigation test where fixed points have to be found in order to get the new coordinates for the next point. Navigation skills and awareness are the most important aspects of this trial. The team that can find the most navigation points in the least amount of time has won this trail. A time handycap will be applied to neutralize scooter differences. The maximum duration of this test is 90 minutes with an average depth of 10m.
The second trail is a Monkey Bash Teams compete against each other with the aim of pulling the string away from the back of the divers head. This string will be offered to you by the organization and must be attached between the head and the maskstrap. A three dimensional field will be set out within which the battle will take place. Once the string is removed, the diver leaves the field. The team where all divers have lost their string is eliminated. Last team standing is the end winner.
The championship will take place at the Put van Ekeren. This lake is known for its good visibility and beautiful flora and fauna. The address is Ekersedijk 1, Antwerp. We are located at the stairs of the CVD on the west side of the Put van Ekeren. Anyone with a valid diving license, diving insurance and an underwater scooter can participate. It does not matter from which federation you participate. If you do not have a permit for the Put van Ekeren, we will arrange a day permit.
Three things are NOT allowed during this championship.
A navigation system such as the SUEX SINAPSI or similar
A so-called “TWIN scooter”
Changing scooters during the championship
